Interior Door Installation in Toronto

Interior door installation, double doors, jambs and hardware fitting.

Interior doors, double doors and entrance doors. Jambs set plumb, doors hung and hardware fitted, casing and stops installed and finished.

Existing openings are squared up where the house has moved, which is most of the reason an old door catches on the frame or swings open on its own.

What we build

  • Interior door installation
  • Double doors
  • Entrance doors
  • Jambs set plumb
  • Casing and stops
  • Hinges and hardware fitted
  • Squaring up existing openings

What changes the price

Doors are priced per opening, and the opening matters more than the door.

  • Number of openings. Each opening is its own jamb, door, casing and hardware.
  • Slab or pre hung. A slab is fitted into a frame that is already there. A pre hung door comes on its own jamb, and the opening is made to receive it.
  • The condition of the opening. Openings in a house that has settled are squared up before anything is hung.
  • Double and entrance doors. A pair has to meet in the middle and swing true on both sides, which takes more fitting than a single door.
  • Hardware. Hinges, locksets and stops are fitted per door.
  • Casing. New casing or reinstalling the existing casing changes the work around every opening.

Common questions

Can a new door go into an old opening?

Yes. The opening is squared up first, because a house that has settled leaves the frame out of plumb, and a new door hung in a frame like that will catch or swing on its own.

What is a jamb?

The frame the door hangs in: two sides and a head. If the jamb is not plumb, nothing else about the door will sit right, which is why it is set before the door is hung.

What is the difference between a slab and a pre hung door?

A slab is the door on its own, hung into a frame that is already there. A pre hung door arrives already fitted to its own jamb, and the opening is made to receive it.

Why does a door swing open on its own?

Almost always because the hinge side is out of plumb, so the door is hanging downhill. Squaring the jamb fixes it. Adjusting the hinges alone rarely holds.

Can you install doors I have already bought?

Yes. In most cases the homeowner or the general contractor supplies the doors and the hardware, and we hang and fit them.

Do you do one door or the whole house?

Both. A single opening and a whole house are both work we take.
